Role + The Opportunity

As an IID Client Leader
, you have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping our Industrial Design market. The Client Leader is responsible for both growing existing client relationships within the market and identifying, establishing, and developing strategic relationships with new clients, who together will contribute to the continued success and growth of the market. In addition, the Client Leader will serve as a thought leader within the market and provide new innovative perspectives to the clients and the firm related to the Industrial market.

The successful candidate for this role will work out of the Charlotte, NC office.

The Role Priorities
  • Achieve targeted sales goals defined by the Market Leader in support of the Market Business Plan
  • Identify and develop strategic targeted relationships with multiple new and existing client decision-makers.
  • Act as the client relationship lead, establishing multiple high-level points of contact and developing an understanding of the client's business goals and objectives.
  • Serve as the expert and advocate for the services provided by BHDP, which differentiate our firm from others and align with the client’s business goals and objectives.
  • Lead the process to prepare responses to Requests for Proposals, across multiple internal partners.
  • Partner with the Market Leaders and Design Manager to coordinate consultants and internal team selection to support new projects and opportunities secured.
  • Build a business leader network with key industry influencers.
  • Establish yourself as a thought leader within the Industrial Manufacturing market and the Design industry to bring new and innovative thoughts, trends, and ideas to our clients and the firm.
  • Build and share strategically relevant expertise in the market and design sectors.
  • Proactively provide perspective and strategic recommendations to clients, adding value to their business as a trusted partner and advisor.
  • Present BHDP market-focused thought leadership at professional national organization conferences attended by existing and prospective clients.
  • Travel expectations will vary for this role, with an anticipated range of 20% - 30% of the time.
Skills + Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of applied architecture or engineering experience in planning and designing industrial manufacturing and distribution facilities.
  • Five or more years of prior owner-side experience related to industrial manufacturing capacity planning, site & facility master planning, production capacity expansion, capital planning and / or operations. Prior roles as program manager, initiative manager, facilities manager and / or project manager leading large capital expansion projects are highly desired.
  • An accredited degree in architecture or engineering is required; professional licensure is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong client relationship-building experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be a self-starter is important.
  • A drive to achieve extraordinary and consistent results.
  • Candidates must possess the ability to demonstrate organizational savvy and build strategic relationships.
  • Experience with consultative or structured sales methodologies (e.g., Sandler) preferred.
