The Department of Community Resources (DCR) provides individuals and families with immediate access to a diverse range of Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services (HHS) programs and onsite community partner services through an integrated service delivery model in Community Resources Centers throughout the County.
Position Specific SummaryThis position is located at the Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services Community Resource Center and will directly supervise Department of Community Resources team members in Quick Services Areas:
Document Counter, Food Pantry, Computer Room and Cashier Station. Position will also require supportive supervision of team members in other areas such as:
Service Point, Kids’ Corner, and Customer Experience Specialists.

Supervises, plans and participates in clerical, administrative and program related activities for a division or program. Provides and oversees information to the general public or customers. Oversees a variety of administrative and clerical support services.
Essential Functions- Supervise and coordinate the activities of clerical and administrative support employees in a department
- Prepare correspondence such as invoices, reports, memos, letters, agendas, financial statements, and other documents using various computer applications
- Conduct research, compile/organize data, and prepare papers for consideration and presentation by manager, director, committees, County Manager and/or Board of County Commissioners
- Review operating practices, processes, and procedures to determine whether improvements can be made in areas such as workflow, reporting procedures, or expenditures
- Prepare agendas and make arrangements, such as coordinating catering for luncheons, for committees, and other meetings
- Read and analyze incoming information, memos, submissions, and reports to determine their significance and distribution
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email
- Perform general office duties, such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management database systems
- Handle and/or route inquiries and citizen concerns to the proper authority for resolution
- Coordinate and direct office services, such as records, departmental finances, budget preparation, and personnel issues to aid director
- May have fiscal duties such as overseeing fee collection and conduct cash audits
- Some positions may be required to support enrollment and eligibility activities performed in the NC FAST system
- Respond in cases of urgent and/or emergent events that require public health interventions. Employees may be trained for and assigned duties unrelated to their regular work; work outside normal business hours and workdays and/or in a different work location may be required. Emergency events include, but are not limited to, communicable disease outbreaks, severe weather situations (e.g. snow or ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes), natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes), fire, or power outages, and acts of terrorism.
Experience: Minimum of six years of administrative experience
