This is first-line supervisory or managerial law enforcement work at a University campus or other State facility. Employees have full powers of arrest and enforce state and federal laws. They supervise a unit of officers or department personnel in routine calls, emergencies, and other law enforcement services. Duties include supervising officers, conducting briefings, reviewing reports, coordinating activities, disciplining, and providing input for operational planning.
Responsibilities- Orientation and training of officers.
- Inspections of officers and other department personnel during a shift.
- Conducting pre-shift briefings.
- Reviewing all reports and investigations completed during a shift.
- Coordinating activity.
- Enforcing discipline.
- Conducting performance reviews.
- Providing input concerning operational planning.
- Associate Degree (or 60 hours of college credit) and four years of sworn law enforcement officer experience.
- Current certification from NC CJETSC as a commissioned police officer.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree preferred with experience in law enforcement or military service.
- Four years of sworn law enforcement experience required; additional two years preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Completion of the North Carolina Justice Academy Community Policing Certificate Program.
- The finalist will be subject to a Criminal Background Check and/or a Motor Vehicle Report.
