Summary
Lidl US is searching for the next Regional Real Estate Director to join our team! As part of our expansion across the US east coast, we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and driven professional to lead the Charlotte, NC Regional Property Office. Real Estate is a fast paced and challenging area of the business, where you will be expected to make decisions independently and lead critically important teams of Senior Managers and Managers across two main areas of responsibility:
Real Estate (Acquisition and Development) & Construction. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a confident, experienced individual prepared to make their mark on the business by supporting the development and growth of Lidl US.
- Lead a team of Real Estate and Construction Senior Managers, Managers, Analysts and other support team members in accordance with our company values
- Develop and retain talent throughout the employee lifecycle by applying strong leadership competencies
- Oversee and direct regional market analysis, site identification, due diligence, acquisition negotiations, entitlement processes and store construction in line with company goals and objectives
- Set expectations of the team and individual team members, track and ensure your department achieves its KPIs
- Oversee and approve new store proposals, contract packages approval, general contractor and other construction contract approvals for submission to real estate committee, and overall project schedule and budget responsibility
- Collaborate with stakeholders to successfully deliver company commitments
- Monitor progress and check quality standards are always met
- Effectively communicate progress and challenges in respect of project milestones and timeline to senior leadership and stakeholder departments
- Evaluate and continually improve processes, and procedures to solve issues and create efficiency
- Network within the industry as a front-facing representative of the company and brand
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and internal guidelines and standards
- Knowledge of real estate acquisition and lease process, purchase and sale process, real estate contract law, retail real estate markets, real estate valuation, civil and building design, development entitlement processes for assigned regions, and best practices of real estate project management
- Experience in preconstruction, civil and building design management, budgeting, negotiation of construction contracts and construction management in retail and grocery preferred
- Experience managing third party consultants such as brokers, architects, engineers and attorneys
- Experience managing an internal team of direct reports
- Ability to confidently present to a range of audiences including senior executives
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to develop others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Excellent time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical approach and problem-solving
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite or related software
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Construction, Urban Planning, Project Management or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a related field including in a supervisory capacity
- In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed above
- Valid US driver's license, or the ability to obtain one
Job Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- This position commutes between regional property office, stores, distribution centers, HQ, potential sites, construction sites, and/or trade conferences and events up to 60% of the time
- This position requires overnight domestic travel up to 15% of the time
