Director of Operations

, a TCPA company is a leading manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemicals, reagents, and analytical testing solutions for over 50 years. We are looking for a Director of Operations at our ISO 9001 and 17025 certified location in Charlotte, NC.

The Director of Operations is responsible for day-to-day management of the operational functions of the Reagents facility, including production, the laboratory, inventory, and shipping. The position will be responsible for managers and supervisors within these departments. Daily functions will mainly revolve around these teams, but also in some cross-TCP interactions as well.

• Lead Production Operations for Reagents. This includes manufacturing planning, batch ticket and label development, batch production and packaging initiatives.
• Manage Lab Operations, including small scale production and packaging and lab testing.
• Manage Warehouse Operations, including processes for inventory control and regulatory shipping requirements.
• Manage Supervisors in Laboratory, Warehouse, and Manufacturing.
• Ensure schedules and equipment utilization meet current and future customer demands.
• Responsible for hazardous waste management resulting from all Production and Lab Operations. Ensure proper disposal and documentation management.
• Manage production metrics, including production backlog and inventory priority list (“never out list”) to ensure service levels are being met and continually improved on.
• Manage warehouse and shipping metrics, including cycle count variances and on-time shipping, to ensure appropriate customer service.
• Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring all facilities and plant equipment meet or exceed safety requirements.
• Lower costs through productivity and efficiency improvements by upgrading equipment and/or re-engineering manufacturing processes (Process Development).
• Support the financial goals of the organization by managing the department budget for raw materials, supplies, and overhead.
• Collaborate with portfolio companies to identify best manufacturing practices.
• Leverage the ERP system to manage inventory levels and manufacturing activities. Continually look for new opportunities to utilize the ERP system.
• Collaborate with all departments to ensure customer satisfaction through timely and accurate delivery of finished goods.
• Suggest changes and improvements to the quality policy and procedure manuals.
• Build & develop a high-performing team through recruiting, training, coaching, & cross-functional development.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, & continuous improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or other scientific discipline related to markets Served.
• MBA is an asset.
• 4+ years of experience managing chemical manufacturing operations desired.
• Proven ability to manage multiple departments and improve processes that deliver measurable business results.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing high performing supervisors and leads.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on, collaborative leader with a strategic mindset and drive for continuous improvement.
