Tool Crib Attendant

The tool crib attendant supports plant operations by managing, issuing, tracking, and maintaining all tools, consumables, and production supplies used throughout the manufacturing facility. This role ensures operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel have the correct tools at the right time, supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

• Issue and receive tools, cutting tools, precision equipment, PPE, and consumables to production workers and maintenance staff.
• Maintain accurate tool check-in/check-out records in the plant's inventory or CMMS system.
• Track overdue tools and follow up with production supervisors when required.
• Prepare tools packages for scheduled machine setups, changeovers, or preventive maintenance jobs.
• Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock to prevent downtime.
• Perform regular cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory data.
• Organize and label shelves, bins, and storage areas using 5S/lean practices.
• Inspect tools for damage or wear before reissuing.
• Send tools out for calibration or repair and track their status.
• Remove unsafe or nonconforming tools from circulation.
• Work closely with machine operators, assemblers, and maintenance technicians to identify tooling needs.
• Assist with tool identification for CNC, fabrication, welding, or assembly operations.
• Maintain SDS documentation for chemicals and coolants stored in the crib.
• Support continuous improvement, cost-saving efforts, and scrap reduction related to tooling.
• Ensure tools meet plant safety standards before issue and enforce PPE rules.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a manufacturing, machining, or industrial environment.
• Ability to recognize common hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment.
• Basic computer skills (inventory systems, work orders, email).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift 30-50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• 1-3 years experience.
