ABOUT THE ROLE:

Schaefer Plastics is seeking a mid-level Project Manager to drive internal projects and process improvement initiatives across our injection molding operations. This is a technical, hands‑on role focused on enhancing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in injection molding
, lean manufacturing
, and cross‑functional collaboration.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with engineering or technical project leadership experience who enjoys identifying inefficiencies, solving problems, and delivering measurable results in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage internal projects focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and operational improvements.
  • Define project scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure on‑time delivery of milestones.
  • Partner closely with internal departments, including Manufacturing, Sales, IT, and Controls, to execute initiatives.
  • Use lean manufacturing principles to drive improvements in quality, output, and productivity.
  • Identify and elevate project risks, resource constraints, or changes in scope.
  • Track and report on project status, resource allocation, and timelines to leadership.
  • Contribute to building a continuous improvement culture throughout the plant.
  • Support documentation and standardization of processes post‑implementation.
  • Ensure internal project hand‑offs are smooth and support long‑term adoption.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in injection molding or plastics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
    , Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; MS Project or similar project management tools is a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP or Six Sigma certification is a plus
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams in a technical manufacturing setting
  • Working knowledge of automation or control systems is a bonus
