Job Description
Sub Arc Welder – Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel
Responsible for performing submerged arc welding (SAW) on stainless steel and carbon steel components in accordance with welding procedures, drawings, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate submerged arc welding equipment for stainless steel and carbon steel fabrication.
- Select and install appropriate welding wire, flux, and machine settings based on material thickness and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
- Perform high-quality welds on plates, structural components, pressure vessels, pipes, and fabricated assemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, drawings, and WPS requirements.
- Prepare, fit, align, and inspect materials prior to welding.
- Monitor welding parameters, including amperage, voltage, travel speed, and wire feed speed.
- Perform preheating and interpass temperature control when required.
- Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, slag inclusions, and lack of fusion.
- Perform grinding, cleaning, and weld preparation as necessary.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe, clean work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable welding standards.
- Work with quality-control personnel to ensure welds meet customer and industry specifications.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience with submerged arc welding (SAW).
- Experience welding both stainless steel and carbon steel.
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and WPS documentation.
- Knowledge of welding processes, consumables, and basic weld inspection.
- Ability to use measuring tools and welding equipment safely and accurately.
- AWS certification or equivalent welding qualification preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team.
Hours: 6:30am-3pm, M-F
