Job Summary
The Machine Builder's primary function is to build and assemble machinery, pipe fitting, and enclosures. Handle, move, load, and unload material, mostly heavy metal, by hand or using a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes in a manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, product specifications, and understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.
Assist with rigging, hoisting, moving, and aligning large (up to 40 tons) subassemblies and components to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and forklifts, using established safety precautions.
Fit and assemble simple and complex parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment according to drawings and product specifications.
Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors, hydraulics, fans, generators, insulation, soundproofing systems, and building panels using hand and power tools.
Thread and install piping and pipe spools using engineering assembly drawings.
Assist with documentation control and following company policies.
Handle, move, load, and unload products and materials by hand or using material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and tow motors, operating established safety precautions. (Material handling)
Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and participate in regular safety talks. Perform a visual inspection of equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
Job Requirements
Minimum 3 years' experience in a trade with similar/transferrable skills aligned with the job responsibilities.
