Woke Vote Youth and Young Adult Outreach Strategist is a vital part of Woke Vote and functions as the statewide and county-wide coordinator of the program. The Woke Vote Youth and Young Adult Outreach Strategist has an understanding of young adult culture and campuses throughout the state. This role will be responsible for finding youth and young adult contacts and volunteers in target areas.
The Woke Vote Youth and Young Adult Captain must be able to work independently as well as interdependently with the team to advance the program’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Under direction of the Woke Vote NC team, the primary responsibilities are:
Support Woke Vote programs and events that promote voter education, voter registration, absentee ballots, and commitments to vote
Liaison with Woke Vote leadership to procure funding and logistical support
Disseminate information on events, important voting deadlines, and general election information to student leaders & the student body
Create relationships with key campus stakeholders, organizations and other campus leaders
Identify non-partisan, non-bias events to disseminate Woke Vote information
Create a statewide calendar of events
Commitment to Woke Vote’s mission, social justice and Black liberation
Personal qualities include energy, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate and listen to others
Demonstrated leadership experience
1-3 years experience with civic and voter engagement strategies preferred but not mandatory
Possess strong interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of service-learning, civic engagement, and talent development
Ability to collect and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes
Ability to travel
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
LocationNC-based with special priority to those living in the following areas:
Nash County
Wilson County
Edgecombe County
* All NC residents eligible, if willing to travel to neighboring county areas.
Compensation$15 - $20 per hour / depending on experience
