About the Levine JCC
The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a nonprofit social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The JCC provides diverse social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs within a Jewish setting and serves as a community partner affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte.
Position PurposeThe Program and Events Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of adult programming and special events. Working closely with the Director of Arts, Events & Program Innovation, Programming Committee, and staff across departments, this position helps develop and deliver engaging cultural, social, and educational programs that serve both the Jewish and broader community while strengthening participation and visibility.
Essential ResponsibilitiesProgram & Event Coordination
- Coordinate and implement a broad array of adult programs, including Arts & Culture and special events.
- Support planning, logistics, registration, and on-site execution of programs and events.
- Develop informal engagement opportunities (e.g., clubs, affinity groups, social gatherings).
- Support recurring enrichment programs such as cooking, crafting, mending, and film screenings.
- Assist in planning and execution of major agency events, including the Levine JCC Kids Triathlon and Sam Strause Golf Tournament.
- Assist with rentals and partnerships involving outside organizations using JCC space.
Planning, Administration & Budget
- Support implementation of annual programming plans, including budget tracking and registration processes.
- Maintain community contact lists and cultivate relationships with local partners.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Development to promote programs and increase participation.
- Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator to support and promote volunteer engagement within the department.
Collaboration & Decision-Making
- Make independent decisions as appropriate regarding program logistics and participant needs.
- Consult regularly with the Director of Arts, Events & Program Innovation and senior leadership regarding program direction and operational matters.
- 1–5 years of experience in program development or event coordination in a community-based setting.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Knowledge of Judaism and Jewish culture, or willingness to learn.
- Strong customer-service orientation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Budget awareness and administrative competence.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment.
- Ability to resolve conflict constructively and maintain high standards of program excellence.
