The Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council is dedicated to creating a sustainable, equitable, and healthy local food system in Mecklenburg County. We actively engage with and amplify local community voices, nurturing a vibrant and inclusive food ecosystem. The council works collaboratively to drive positive change in the community's food-related issues. We are looking for a great communications intern to grow with us in shaping our public messaging and community touchpoints.
InternshipDescription
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail oriented intern to support our organization’s communication efforts. The ideal candidate will be a college student interested in Public Health, Nutrition, Agriculture, or a related field and passionate about food access.
Key ResponsibilitesDevelop and post engaging content on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Linked In) that educates the public on food access, public health issues, and our organization’s initiatives.
Research and write insightful blog posts that raise awareness on topics related to food security, nutrition policy, and community health.
Assist with drafting monthly newsletters to our subscribers highlighting our latest work, events, and food access resources.
QualificationsStrong written and verbal communication skills
Basic knowledge of social media platforms, content management systems (like Word Press), and design tools (Canva, Photoshop).
Ability to juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
