About the Unit5 North is a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit. We are a Med‑Surg Unit with heavy surgical volume. We specialize in:
- Elective bariatric/weight loss surgery - these are typically our happiest and easiest patients. They go to the OR and are expected to be up and ambulating on post‑op Day 0.
- General surgery - appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstruction, etc.
- Foot and ankle ortho - total ankle replacements and infected foot wounds, BKA’s etc.
- Urology surgery.
A Nurse on our Unit will gain experience in drains of all kinds, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, DHT, and all surgical things!
