Must-Have:
General Med/Tele skillset, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and trach care.
PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, and foley insertion/management.
Medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids.
Description:
RN - Med Surg/Tele position available in a fast-paced environment.
The facility has a large number of licensed beds and is a Level I Trauma Center.
It serves as a teaching hospital with specialized centers for chest pain and stroke.
The unit specializes in head/neck and gastrointestinal surgeries.
Common procedures include tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, and appendectomies.
Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, but may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing.
CNA ratios vary within the unit.
Support staff includes charge nurses, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7.
Nurses must be proficient in telemetry monitoring, as monitoring tech is not present.
The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
Nurses will work every other weekend, with holiday expectations of working 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off are permitted up to 6 days, excluding holidays.
Scrub color is navy.
