Position: Hospice Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Essential Functions
  • Delivery of patient care
    • Personal care (ADL) including bathing, body mechanics, nutrition, elimination, safety, special procedures, housekeeping, and participation in interdisciplinary team conferences.
    • For NA I:
      • Sterile dressing for wounds over 48 hours old; wound irrigation.
      • Ostomy care or ostomy irrigation.
      • Insertion of urinary catheter limited to replacement after nursing assessment.
      • Oxygen therapy including room set‑up and monitoring of flow‑rate.
    • For NA II:
      • Breaking‑up and removal of fecal impaction.
      • I.V. fluid‐assisted activities and monitoring.
      • Nutritional activities including oral/nasogastric and gastrostomy feedings.
      • Suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal).
      • Tracheostomy care.
      • All NA I responsibilities.
      • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, including referrals and documentation per HPCCR guidelines.
    • Documentation and professional accountability as required by HPCCR and licensure standards.
    • May perform other duties as required and assist with facility cleaning per procedure.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma preferred; technical training or certification in related field required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current listing status.
  • Good standing with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (for NA I).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience; experience in home care, working with terminally ill and/or geriatrics preferred.
