Obstetrical Nurse
RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit, could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR. Difficult unit/fast paced. Must have experience with more than 300 births per month. Double labor assignments are a daily occurrence on the unit.
Required skills/certs/exp:
- Minimum years of experience: 2 years to be comfortable working on this unit, as it can be challenging for less experience. Prefers 3 years.
- Traveler experience:
Unit will accept first time travelers. (But should have experience in large/high volume similar setting). - Locals accepted / rate difference:
Yes - Skills:
Circulate, sterile vaginal exam and competent in immediate newborn care - Certs: BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate and NRP
Job details:
- Ratios: 2:1, average 20 births in 24hrs and 30-40 admits, 40 visits/day, 20 rooms
- Unit will accept 13 - 26 week contracts!
- 12 hr nights; 18:45 - 07:15
- RTO: 7 days max for AYA auto offer

Float required as needed. Special maternity care high risk OB unit. - Weekend requirement:
Every other weekend, a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
Patient diagnoses:
Obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum and for high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. We care for under 16 weeks high risk patients too on our high risk maternity unit. The birthing care unit has an obstetrical triage unit to allow for screening of patients prior to admission and to perform routine outpatient procedures such as antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration.
Scheduled and unscheduled cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage are performed.
Special procedures/unit details:
- Unit very fast paced, busier and higher acuity than might be normally expected. May not be realistic for nurses to take 48hr contracts on this unit due to how busy it is. Strongly prefer RN with circulate to OR experience.
- Unit systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
- Unit orientation: 24.0 hours.

Scrubs provided (blue).
