Position: LPN - Atrium Health Behavioral Health Charlotte Therapy Support Services PT

Position Summary

Part time – 28 hours per week.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, day hours, Adult Integrated Continuum Medication Clinic.

Compensation

Pay range: $24.10 – $36.15 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and rooms patients for exam by obtaining vital signs and updating health information (chief complaint, allergies, medications).
  • Performs laboratory procedures (strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
  • Assists the physician/clinician with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
  • Administers medications as ordered, including immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. Initiates, maintains, and discontinues limited IV therapy with selected fluids.
  • Provides basic patient education on tasks, skills, treatment and self‑care; follows up on procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times, and referrals. Refers questions to RN and physicians per scope of practice guidelines.
  • Communicates with physicians and other health‑care team members. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
  • Performs advanced clinical tasks (removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc.) with demonstrated competency under clinical supervision.
  • Organizes exam rooms, labs, and work areas including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment; performs patient positioning, transportation, lifting and pushing/pulling using proper technique.
  • Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment (cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments).
  • Participates in patient‑centered initiatives, care management, performance and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age‑specific care for patients across the lifespan and applies departmental policies and procedures.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 45 days unless otherwise directed.
Education Required
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
Experience Required
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; able to develop rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a Windows operating system, and use of electronic medical records and email.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
  • Must push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
  • Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids; required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine‑hand manipulation skills.
  • Operates all equipment essential to perform the job.
