Job Title
Registered Nurse (RN) – Atrium Health Mercy – Float Pool
OverviewPosition:
Full-time nursing float pool.
Hours:
40 per week, 12‑hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM). Pay range: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour. Sign‑on bonus eligible and relocation bonus available for out‑of‑area candidates. Benefits eligible.
Work setting:
Atrium Health Mercy, 196‑bed facility part of Carolinas Medical Center. Float across all inpatient units based on staffing needs.
- Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team.
- Uphold and promote a culture of safety and continuous evaluation of outcomes.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely following protocols.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
- Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics and practice ethical decision‑making.
- Appropriately delegate tasks to RN, LPN, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
- Float to other units, departments, or facilities within the service area as needed.
- Provide age‑appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Active, unrestricted RN license (multi‑state compact or single‑state).
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (at least 6 months outside of a new‑grad residency program).
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with electronic records and related computer functions.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently.
- Lift up to 35 pounds and perform transfers with assistance.
- Respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions.
- Possible exposure to chemical and hazardous waste; protective clothing required.
- Physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de‑escalation.
