Clinical Education Supervisor
Oversees and supervises clinical or experiential education opportunities for students. Prepares and delivers relevant course content using a variety of teaching methods and assessments that support student learning. Ensures that students achieve and demonstrate mastery of stated learning objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Teaches assigned clinical or experiential courses or component of accompanying didactic course(s) by supervising application of appropriate clinical or experiential course content to students, preparing course materials and lesson plans when required, and addressing students' questions and/or concerns
- Provides and supervises clinical or experiential education opportunities for students that allow for the application of course objectives
- Communicates with students, clinical or experiential staff and internal program faculty and administration to provide feedback on student performance and maintain continuity of care for patients or clients
- Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance in accordance with university and site policies and procedures
- Distributes to each student, in each course, a university approved syllabus that includes course objectives, texts, attendance policy and materials required for course and evaluation criteria
- Communicates early with any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling
- Refers students to appropriate university sources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career development, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification:
- Minimum of a master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Current license/multi-state license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina or ability to obtain such licensure by date of hire
- Two or more years clinical experience in adult health, pediatrics, maternal-newborn, mental health, and/or community/public health
- Ability and willingness to meet the following NC Board of Nursing Rules/Regulations:
21 NCAC 36.0318 FACULTY (c) Nurses licensed pursuant to this Chapter who are full-time and part-time faculty and who teach in a program leading to initial licensure as a nurse shall:
- (1) hold an active unencumbered license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina;
- (2) hold either a baccalaureate in nursing or a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution; (3) have two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse. Full-time registered nurse is a registered nurse employed by the institution who is regularly assigned to work at least 40 hours each week in the position of faculty member;
- (4) if newly employed in a full-time faculty position on or after January 1, 2016, hold a graduate degree from an accredited institution or obtain a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution within five years of initial full-time employment;
- (5) prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. Once completed, this education need not be repeated if the employing organization is changed. This education may be demonstrated by one of the following:
- Experience in nursing education
