- Pay Rate: $57.00 / Hour (USD)
- Shift / Schedule: 12-Hour Nights; 18:45 07:15 (3 12 Hours);

- Ratios: 2:1 (can flex up to 3:1 in high census; nurse must be comfortable with this if needed). Average Daily Census: 11 12

This is a travel contract position in the Neuro ICU at a comprehensive stroke center. The unit manages a high-acuity patient population including strokes (ischemic, hemorrhagic [SAH]), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis. Drains in use include EVDs, LDs, hemovacs, and Camino (ICP monitoring). This is a comprehensive stroke center, and stroke patients represent one of the largest patient populations on the unit.
The unit will not accept first-time travelers.
- Provide care for high-acuity neurological and neurosurgical patients in the ICU setting, including stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic), SAH, SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
- Manage and monitor external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, hemovacs, and Camino ICP monitoring devices
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including EVD, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR
- Float per unit requirements as needed
- Adhere to scheduling per unit needs, including every other weekend requirement
- Complete unit orientation (24.0 hours; 2 days or 2 nights)
- Adhere to scrub color requirements:
Navy blue and White
- Ventilator (Vents) management
- IV Start
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit experience
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Blood product administration
- Central line care/management
- Continuous IV sedation
- CVA/Acute Stroke management
- External ventricular drain (EVD) management
- ICP Monitoring
- Post Neurosurgery management
- Care of ventilated patient
- Isolation precautions/use of PPE
- Lumbar drain experience
- Strong Neuro experience must be 2 years minimum, no less
- Stroke patient management stroke patients are one of the largest patient populations on this unit
- Arterial line management
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Required
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) Required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Strong Neuro Critical Care background required not just general ICU experience
- Unit will NOT accept first-time travelers
- Night shift position: 12-hour nights, 18:45 07:15
- Every other weekend required

- RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is NOT allowed and is NOT allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in a contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
- RTO: 7 days maximum for AYA Auto Offer
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Must have 2 years of Neuro ICU experience candidates without this must be redirected and not submitted
- Strong Neuro Critical Care background is required general ICU experience alone does not qualify
- Locals accepted (rate difference may apply)
