Labor and delivery experience, including both L&D and couplet care. Ability to circulate in the OR for C-section deliveries and recover patients in PACU.

Description:

RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly lead to cancellation. Must have experience in both Labor and Delivery and Couplet Care. Experience with IV start and telemetry is required. Nurses will be responsible for antepartum care and procedures such as assisting with sterile speculum exams, NST, and triage of obstetrical patients.

Skills in fetal monitoring, including the use of external and internal monitoring, are essential. Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy is required, including the administration of blood and blood products. Competence in medication administration for anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and other necessary medications is expected. Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and recovery. Neonatal care is required in the delivery room, including assessment and identification of newborns.

Postpartum care for patients with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and couplet care is essential. Pain management skills, including the use of epidural and PCA, are necessary. All nurses must adhere to professional topics and skills relevant to the role, such as isolation precautions and vaccine administration. The unit accommodates both labor and delivery patients as well as postpartum mothers and their newborns.

Staffing ratios are 1:1-2 for labor and 1:3 for postpartum. Unit includes LDRP rooms, observation rooms, and triage rooms. Flexibility to float within the facility may be required based on unit needs. Weekend shifts are required as part of the position.
