Assistant Director of Nursing Registered Nurse

We are currently offering a $10,000 Sign-On Bonus for this position.

Are you a compassionate, knowledgeable nursing leader who is passionate about providing exceptional resident care? We are seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support our Director of Nursing in leading a dedicated nursing team and ensuring the highest standards of clinical care in our long-term care community.

In this role, you will help oversee nursing operations, support and mentor staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of excellence that enhances the quality of life for our residents.

What You'll Do
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily nursing operations and clinical services
  • Help recruit, onboard, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff
  • Develop, implement, and monitor resident care plans to ensure quality outcomes
  • Prepare staffing schedules and coordinate shift coverage to maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Ensure nursing staff follow established policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Conduct resident rounds and address concerns, complaints, and care-related issues promptly.
  • Monitor clinical performance and recommend process improvements to enhance resident care
  • Coordinate and facilitate staff meetings, education, and resident care updates
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident and employee records.
  • Support budget planning and assist with managing departmental expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and provide leadership support to nursing staff across all shifts.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Previous experience in Long-Term Care or Skilled Nursing preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare software, electronic medical records, and computer applications.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive in stressful situations.
  • Ability to effectively supervise, coach, and develop nursing staff.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, resident-centered care.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work evenings, nights, weekends, or provide on-call support, as needed. As a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week facility, our residents and nursing team rely on strong clinical leadership across all shifts.

What We’re Looking For

As a condition of employment, nurses must meet Primary State of Residence (PSOR) and Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) requirements. Nurses must maintain an active nursing license in their Primary State of Residence. Nurses whose Primary State of Residence is South Carolina must hold a South Carolina nursing license and a South Carolina driver's license or state-issued  a South Carolina address. Candidates residing outside of South Carolina must maintain appropriate licensure in accordance with their Primary State of Residence and NLC requirements.

  • Current South Carolina RN license in good standing.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic personality.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work professionally with residents, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Long‑term care experience preferred but not required.
