American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for an ambulatory surgery center setting requiring 2 years of experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Details- Work in the PACU of an ambulatory/outpatient surgery center
- Average daily census of 40 with 9 rooms/beds
- Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Eye and ENT surgical patients undergoing procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, sinus surgery, cataract extraction, and BMTs
- Day shift schedule, 8-hour shifts (either 6:00-14:30 or 7:30-16:00), mix of both may be required
- 4x8 or 5x8 scheduling considered based on unit needs
- No weekend requirement
- No call requirement
- Rare floating to other Charlotte-area ASCs (COSC, Ballantyne ASC, Huntersville ASC, Center City) may be required
- Unit does not use a computerized charting system
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Experience in ambulatory/outpatient PACU setting required
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
- Experience with pre/post-op patient care including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and obtaining operative/procedural consent
- Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol and pain assessment/management required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Experience with Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery preferred
- Experience with ENT, general, and ophthalmology surgery cases preferred
- Skills in airway assessment and placement of oral/nasal airways preferred
- Experience with emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents preferred
- Experience with cataract extraction/implant and eye trauma preferred
- Pediatric patient management experience preferred
- Experience with general, local, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) preferred
- Provide pre- and post-operative recovery care for surgical patients across a range of ages and procedures
- Unit orientation consists of 3 days on the unit
- Scrubs are provided
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, and must disclose facility name and dates of employment for approval
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
