American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for an LDRP unit requiring both couplet care and labor experience along with NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- LDRP unit with 8 LDRP rooms, 3 observation rooms, and 3 triage rooms (15 rooms/17 beds)
- Low-risk obstetric patient population; high-risk patients are stabilized and transferred
- Occasionally accepts off-service female patients such as post-hysterectomy cases when census allows
- Target ratios: L&D 1:1-2 and couplet care 1:3 on average, subject to fluctuation
- 13-week contract with option for 36 hours per week
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
- Call may be required during low census
- Occasional floating possible but not frequent
- Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR charting systems
- Active NC or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience
- Required experience in both Labor & Delivery and Couplet/Mother-Baby care
- Experience circulating in the OR for C-section deliveries and recovering patients in PACU
- Certifications required: AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, fetal monitoring (external/internal, IUPC use), antepartum and postpartum care, neonatal care in the delivery room, newborn care, and pain management support
- Experience with high-risk delivery assistance, amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
- Experience with surgical case support such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring and postpartum patients, including couplet care and newborn assessments
- Support antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients with a range of high-acuity and routine procedures
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including circulating and recovering C-section patients
- Unit orientation includes hospital orientation week plus two 12-hour shifts, with mandatory daily class attendance
- Scrubs provided in blue
- First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the L&D and couplet care experience requirements
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure of prior employment required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose either travel or per diem status, not both
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
- Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays during the contract
- Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission

The weekly pay shown in this posting, along with related figures, reflects the lower end of this range for local candidates and higher end of this range for travel candidates. Weekly travel pay includes tax-free stipends per IRS guidelines.
Weekly local pay is fully taxable and therefore lower due to additional employer-paid taxes and related costs.
