The trauma acute care unit provides specialized nursing care to patientsrecoveringfromtraumaticinjuriesand acute surgical conditions. As part of the region's only Level I Trauma Center, our team collaborates closely with the Surgical Trauma Service and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care throughout the recovery journey.
Patients on this unit may include individuals recovering from a wide range of blunt and penetrating traumatic injuries, including orthopedic, thoracic, abdominal, and other trauma-related conditions requiring acute inpatient care. Nurses on this unit develop strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills while caring for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment.

This unit offers new graduate nurses the opportunity to build a strong clinical foundation while working alongside experienced trauma professionals dedicated to teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.
We’re Looking For:- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

CMC serves as the region’s only Level 1 Trauma center, is Magnet-designated, and an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas and liver. We also serve as one of North Carolina’s 5 Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15 specialties and serve as a regional campus for Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
