The department serves a population exceeding one million residents and serves the City of Charlotte, six towns, and the unincorporated areas of the county covering 523 square miles. In addition, the department manages over 21,000 acres and 230+ parks, nature preserves, greenways and facilities. Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is hiring Temporary Parking and Booth Attendants to assist with summer operations at Ramsey Creek Park and Beach Access. The incumbents will begin work during Memorial Day weekend and end after Labor Day weekend. These positions will provide overall customer service to our patrons including monitoring of the grounds, answering questions and ensuring safety of our guests.
Additionally, the selected candidates will work up to 40 hours per week, which will include weekends based upon business needs and must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Customer service experience
- Cash handling experience
- Perform general grounds keeping such as picking up trash and debris
- Load and unload heavy material from trucks and vans
- Perform facility maintenance tasks
- Perform general custodial work
- Perform general laborer-type work

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges

Skills:
General knowledge of applicable computer programs
Knowledge:
- Light equipment used in maintenance, grounds keeping, and construction
- Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to safe operation of this equipment
- Basic tools used in maintenance and construction work
Skills:
- Operating a chainsaw and brush cutter, blowers, sweepers and other assigned equipment
- Performing heavy manual labor, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
