Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you highly motivated, hard-working, and seeking to join a growth-focused consulting & engineering firm? Are you looking for a company that will invest in your development and grow your professional skills? If so, consider a career with Apex!

Powered by record sales, exceptional client retention, strategic acquisitions, and an entrepreneurial spirit, Apex Companies is one of the fastest growing engineering and environmental consulting firms in the US. We were recently recognized by the Zweig Group as one of the fastest growing firms in the AEC industry. We take pride in providing our clients with exceptional service and have earned numerous awards for project excellence.

We continue to grow, and we want you to grow with us.

We’re seeking a talented Safety Program Coordinator with practical, field‑informed experience to support the development and continuous improvement of safety programs across a distributed workforce.

This role is not field‑based and does not have direct reports. Instead, it focuses on translating real‑world field conditions into clear, practical, and usable safety policies, procedures, training, and systems. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on exposure to field operations and applies that experience to develop fit‑for‑purpose guidance that is practical, actionable, and grounded in real‑world conditions.

The Safety Program Coordinator role also supports the management of third‑party safety platforms, subcontractor vetting processes, and alignment with client‑specific safety and compliance requirements.

Your responsibilities as a Safety Program Coordinator include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct subcontractor safety vetting reviews, including evaluation of safety programs, performance, and documentation.
  • Maintain and update third‑party safety platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce).
  • Complete client safety questionnaires, proposals, and prequalification requests.
  • Develop and update practical, field‑focused safety training content.
  • Support the development and improvement of safety policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Provide hazard‑specific guidance to Regional Safety Managers for JSA development and PPE selection/use.
  • Partner with H&S team members and field leadership to align programs with real‑world work conditions.
  • Administer and support training in the LMS (Cornerstone), including assignments and content updates.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.
  • Support broader H&S initiatives and special projects.
What We’re Looking For
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting field operations (environmental, construction, industrial, utilities, or similar).
  • Practical, field‑informed safety experience with a strong understanding of how work is performed in the field.
  • Experience developing or adapting field‑ready safety policies, procedures, or training.
  • Experience with hazard assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development, and/or PPE selection.
  • Familiarity with subcontractor vetting and third‑party safety platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce).
  • Ability to translate safety requirements into clear, usable guidance.
  • Ability to work across teams and balance compliance requirements with operational needs.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage competing priorities, and deliver results without direct supervision.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (preferably Cornerstone).
  • Preference for practical, field‑applicable, fit‑for‑purpose solutions over theoretical approaches.
  • Experience in environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, construction oversight, or similar field‑adjacent roles.
  • Prior experience developing safety training content or instructional materials.
  • Familiarity with onboarding processes and field readiness requirements.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and/or DOT requirements as applied in field settings.
Why You’ll Love Working For Us
  • Company‑subsidized medical and dental.
  • Company‑paid life, short, and long‑term disability.
  • 401k match, tuition assistance, and more.
  • Cross‑training…
