Level I Rebar Quality Control Inspector is responsible for verifying that reinforcing steel (rebar) is fabricated to the customer's drawings, specifications, and applicable industry standards before it is shipped to the job site.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Inspect rebar for correct size, grade, length, bends, spacing, and configuration.
  • Verify heat numbers and material traceability.
  • Measure fabricated rebar using tape measures, protractors, carpenter's squares, templates, and go/no-go gauges.
  • Compare fabricated material to approved shop drawings and bending schedules.
  • Inspect threaded rebar and verify thread dimensions with gauges, when applicable.
  • Document inspection results and maintain quality records.
  • Identify and report nonconforming material.
  • Work closely with production personnel to resolve quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and customer specifications.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety policies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience reading fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation.
  • Good communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a rebar fabrication facility.
  • Knowledge of reinforcing steel standards, including CRSI and ASTM requirements.
  • Previous quality control or inspection experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including heat, cold, and noise.

  • Read rebar fabrication drawings.
  • Verify bends, lengths, and dimensions.
  • Transfer and verify heat numbers.
  • Use a tape measure, framing square, protractor, templates, and thread gauges accurately.
  • Document findings and communicate discrepancies before material is released.
