Job DescriptionThe Sample Control Technician/Courier is responsible for receiving, logging, and routing samples to the appropriate laboratory. The role includes pick‑up and delivery of water, soil, and air samples to and from the laboratory in a fast‑paced environment that requires meticulous attention to detail and accurate data entry into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Interact with clients to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Remove samples from cooler, sort them, and complete documentation regarding sample integrity.
- Ensure all required documentation is thoroughly completed.
- Identify short‑hold samples or those nearing hold expiry to facilitate timely logging and delivery.
- Learn appropriate test codes for various sample matrices.
- Label and deliver samples with short holding times or rush turnaround times.
- Scan and extract Chains of Custody (COC) and internal Chains of Custody Record (COCR).
- Assist with other responsibilities in the Sample Receiving Department (e.g., asbestos login, bottle order preparation, bottle preservation).
- Adhere to all SOPs, QA Manual, and project‑specific requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Valid and current driver’s license.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ideal Candidates Will Have
- Science degree preferred but not required.
- Team‑player with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Efficient in managing multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of sample bottle types and preservation preferred.
- Detail oriented, flexible, dependable, and eager to learn.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely with no restrictions or sponsorship.
- Professional proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 9:00 am‑6:00 pm (Charlotte, NC). Candidate should live within commutable distance of Charlotte.
Pay$17‑$19 per hour. Actual base salary may vary based on experience, skill set, and location.
