Process Quality Technician

Position Summary

The In-Process Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing quality inspections at defined checkpoints throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects, nonconformances, and process deviations before products advance to the next stage. This position verifies that products meet established workmanship, assembly, and quality requirements while maintaining accurate inspection records.

The role works closely with the Quality Lead, Production Lead, and Manufacturing Process Engineer to contain nonconforming product, communicate quality concerns, support root cause investigations, and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions on the production floor.

• Perform in-process inspections at defined production checkpoints according to approved quality standards, inspection criteria, work instructions, and product requirements.
• Inspect electronic assemblies and products for workmanship defects, incorrect or missing components, assembly errors, damage, labeling issues, and other nonconformances.
• Identify and promptly communicate defects, process deviations, and recurring quality concerns before affected units advance to the next production stage.
• Document inspection results, defect types, quantities, and other required quality data accurately for tracking and trend analysis.
• Properly identify, tag, segregate, and quarantine nonconforming units in accordance with established quality procedures.
• Follow established escalation procedures and communicate quality issues to the Quality Lead and Production Lead for timely containment and resolution.
• Support root cause investigations by providing inspection findings, defect data, observations, and relevant production information.
• Verify corrective action effectiveness by monitoring affected production stations and inspecting subsequent units after corrective actions are implemented.
• Partner with Production personnel to reinforce quality requirements and clarify inspection or workmanship expectations when needed.
• Follow all ESD protection and product-handling requirements when inspecting sensitive electronic components and assemblies.
• Maintain accurate quality records and ensure inspection documentation is complete, legible, and traceable.
• Maintain an organized inspection area and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required PPE guidelines.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or quality-related training preferred.
• Previous quality inspection, manufacturing, electronics assembly, or production experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions, inspection criteria, product specifications, and quality procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently identify visible defects, workmanship issues, and process deviations.
• Ability to accurately document inspection results and communicate quality concerns clearly and promptly.
• Strong organization, reliability, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively on the production floor while maintaining objectivity and consistent application of quality standards.

• Experience in electronics, automotive-related, or other quality-controlled manufacturing environments.
• Experience inspecting electronic assemblies, solder workmanship, components, labeling, or finished products.
• Knowledge of electronics workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610 and ESD control requirements.
• Experience with defect tracking, nonconformance documentation, quality systems, or ERP/production systems.
• Experience supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions, or continuous improvement activities.

The In-Process Quality Control Technician directly supports product quality and manufacturing efficiency by identifying defects and process deviations before they move further through production. Consistent inspection, accurate documentation, effective containment, and timely communication help reduce quality escapes, prevent repeat defects, and support reliable customer-ready products.
