Laboratory Technician ; Lab Tech; IRCAD North America

JOB SUMMARY

Provides technical support for primary research investigators and conducts technical research procedures. Experience with both animal surgery and anesthesia strongly preferred.

• Prepareslaboratoryenvironment for professional education courses as outlined by course coordinator and laboratory leadership. Prepares instrumentation, equipment, and consumables needed for the course.
• Conducts technical laboratory procedures and animal anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care.
• Receives, prepares, positions, and performsproperdispositionofall tissue samples.
• Assistsinthe monitoring of research laboratory inventory and equipment and taking appropriate actions.
• Follows all DEA regulations related to the receipt, storage, use, destruction, and disposal of controlled substances.
• Assistinmaintainingthe storage of research data and tissue records.
• Operates all equipment and devices necessary for the performance oflaboratoryproceduresincluding radiographic equipment.
• Assistsin the maintenance of the physical environment.

• Bachelor'sof Science Degreerequiredorits equivalent in experience.

• 1 year experience in veterinary medicine, research, medical education, or healthcare field required.

• Work in fast paced office/laboratory environment. Requiresability to sit or stand forlong periodsof time.
  
  Ability to move and lift heavy objects.

• RVT/LVT, AALAS certification

• Prior experience with surgery or anesthesia

• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
