About the Role

Our client is looking for a visionary Lead Bioinformatician to spearhead their genomics research initiatives in George . This critical role involves developing and implementing advanced computational strategies to analyze large-scale genomic datasets, uncovering insights that drive drug discovery and personalized medicine. You will lead a team of bioinformaticians, foster innovation in computational biology, and collaborate closely with experimental biologists and clinicians.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned expert in bioinformatics with a deep understanding of genomic technologies and a proven ability to translate complex biological questions into actionable computational solutions, shaping the future of genetic research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of computational analyses for high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., whole-genome, exome, RNA-seq).
  • Develop and maintain robust bioinformatics pipelines and algorithms for data processing, variant calling, and functional annotation.
  • Manage and mentor a team of bioinformaticians, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment.
  • Collaborate with experimental scientists to interpret genomic findings and integrate them with other biological data types.
  • Contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation, showcasing research findings to the scientific community.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality control, and efficient storage of large genomic datasets.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in bioinformatics, with a focus on genomics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and shell scripting, along with experience in statistical software.
  • Expertise in using high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and cloud computing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of statistical genetics, population genetics, and machine learning applications in biology.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in George .
