American Book Company is seeking a dedicated, mission-driven Outside Sales Representative to spearhead our growth across North Carolina. As a company rooted in educational excellence, we provide high-quality resources designed to help students and educators succeed.
If you are a former educator who understands the heartbeat of a classroom and possesses a drive for sales, we want to hear from you. While our main headquarters is in Woodstock, GA, this role is a field-based position covering the North Carolina region.
The RoleYou will serve as the face of American Book Company, building lasting relationships with schools and districts. This is a high-activity role that balances autonomy with strong organizational support.
- Relationship Building:
Conduct an average of 40 face-to-face visits per week to educational institutions. - Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with our Inside Sales team to map out efficient routes and outreach strategies. - Conference Presence:
Represent the company at educational conferences, managing booth setups and lead generation. - Expert Knowledge:
Stay ahead of legislative actions, educational trends, and product updates to serve as a consultant to your clients.
- Educational Background:
Previous experience as an educator is strongly preferred. You speak the language of our customers. - Industry Familiarity:
Knowledge of American Book Company resources is a significant plus. - Tech Savvy:
Ability to manage leads and documentation via our CRM (Sprocket) with high accuracy and a 24-hour turnaround. - Road Warrior:
Comfort with consistent travel throughout North Carolina. - Competitive Pay:
Base salary plus a commission structure. - Travel Reimbursement:
Mileage reimbursed at the standard federal rate. - Expenses:
Company credit card provided for travel-related expenses (lodging and food), with meal reimbursements following federal per diem guidelines. - Training:
Comprehensive initial and ongoing training covering product knowledge, sales techniques, and CRM management.
- Attend weekly sales meetings (typically Fridays) via voice conference or webinar.
- Submit all customer contact annotations and requests in the CRM within 24 hours.
- Participate in monthly progress meetings to review territory growth and visit metrics.
- Manage conference leads and follow-ups within 5–7 business days.
