Job OverviewAt Piedmont Airlines, our strength is the way we deliver industry-leading service to our customers and airline partners. To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable student to join us as a Safety Department Intern. This internship will assist in achieving the corporate mission of providing a safe environment for employees and customers. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about and be exposed to each function of an airline safety department.
After successfully completing the internship, the intern will have an overall knowledge needed to understand all elements of safety. This intern position is responsible for assisting the Ground Safety team with ensuring safety and compliance throughout the organization. This position reports to the Manager of Occupational Health Programs.
Involvement in Occupational Safety and Health Programs, including but not limited to:
Injury and Illness Prevention;
Heat Illness Prevention;
Wildfire Smoke Protocol; and OSHA Self-AuditsAssist with review and follow-up of report submissions
Assist in creating data visualizations and reviewing manuals
Competencies:
One (1) year of progress towards a degree with a major or minor in safety or aviation/aeronautical science
Excellent communication and Microsoft Office Suite skills required
Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, ability to multi-task, problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines
General knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations, and procedures regarding airline safety
Junior or Senior student
Prior work experience, especially in a fast-paced office environment
Knowledge of Tableau
Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment
Ability to work a flexible schedule if needed
Some travel required
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds

Employment is contingent upon a clear Driving Record, 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and Drug Screen as required. We also require proof of High School or GED completion. Minimum 18 years of age.
Interns receive travel privileges on the American Airlines network.
Starting Rate:$16.93/Hourly
