Winthrop University is seeking a full-time Laboratory Chemist in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Geology, beginning August 2026. The Laboratory Chemist provides essential set‑up and support for teaching and research laboratories; procures and organizes chemicals and supplies; trains and supervises student lab assistants; and performs duties outlined in the departments Chemical Hygiene and Safety Plan, collaborating with faculty and staff in a team‑oriented environment.

• A bachelor's degree in chemistry is required.
• Two years of chemistry work experience is desired, preferably in a laboratory environment.
• The equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and strong personal ethics for mentoring of students and working in a team environment; mastery of fundamental concepts of General and Organic Chemistry; good planning and organizational skills related to laboratory set‑up and purchasing; and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to kneel, bend, and place objects on shelves.
