Department Detail – The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Security Department

The department is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors on the premises of BGEA, and to protect all association property from theft and damage. To this end the department seeks first to prevent and then to mitigate the effects of man‑made or natural disasters, and medical emergencies, as well as to have a physical presence onsite and to monitor the property at all times.

Job Summary

This position performs security duties that protect persons and property at the BGEA‑Charlotte facilities. Also, as an Associate, this position is not to exceed 1000 hours of work a year.

Ministry Requirements
  • Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
  • Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
  • Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
  • Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Screen pedestrian and vehicular traffic to confirm authorized entry
  • Assist with medical emergencies involving sick or injured persons
  • Operate security systems and equipment, including but not limited to card access, fire and burglar alarms, CCTV, and BGEA vehicles
  • Use appropriate judgment and discretion when handling disruptive individuals and situations in a courteous, professional manner
  • Report damage to ministry or employee property, and conduct investigations regarding same as may be appropriate
  • Document incoming emergency calls during non‑business hours and distribute information accordingly
  • In case of emergency, follow call‑in procedures for BGEA management and staff
  • Immediately consult with management involving emergency incidents occurring on the property or which may have an effect on BGEA
  • Become familiar with all BGEA facilities, policies, procedures, and regulations that affect the safety and security of BGEA building occupants
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information regarding organizational and operational plans, activities, and general security matters
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Refer all requests from the news media to the BGEA Media Relations
  • Appropriately help guests with information and assistance
  • Report maintenance problems or hazardous conditions such as water leaks, fire, and safety hazards
  • Perform all additional duties as directed by superiors, (e.g. cleaning work areas and removal of trash during holiday weekends; job‑related training)
  • Assist other departments as directed by superiors
  • Maintain a well‑groomed and neat appearance, in compliance with established BGEA policy and as further directed by departmental supervisors
Job Specifications Skills and Knowledge
  • Minimum Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school in a job‑related field; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
