Position SummaryThe Network Analyst II (NS) will support the State Laboratory of Public Health (SLPH) and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Raleigh, NC, by ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of enterprise network and voice systems. The incumbent will manage high‑availability servers, VoIP infrastructure, LAN switching, firewalls, virtual environments, and related technologies.
Responsibilities- Operate and troubleshoot high‑availability server and VoIP platforms, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Expressway, Cisco endpoints, and Jabber.
- Diagnose and resolve network and server issues, analyze logs and reports, and formulate corrective actions.
- Configure and maintain LAN Layer 2/3 switching, Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls, VMWare ESXi hosts, SIP, QoS, DNS, and DHCP.
- Monitor system performance, apply patches, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure continuous service.
- Collaborate with business divisions to align IT solutions with mission‑critical goals.
- Coach and mentor junior network staff as needed.
- Maintain documentation, service‑level agreements, and compliance standards for laboratory and medical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related technical field and one year of experience in networking or a related area; or
- Associate degree in a relevant field and two years of networking experience; or
- High school or GED diploma and five years of networking experience; or
- Other equivalent combinations of education and experience as documented.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications concepts, protocols, and hardware/software components.
- Experience designing and analyzing network systems using electronic and communications principles.
- Proficiency in reviewing system logs and reports to troubleshoot network issues.
- Comfortable with medical system or laboratory environments.
- Ability to mentor junior staff.
Salary
:
Grade DT08 – $75,818.00 to $ (Recruitment Range $75,818.00–$95,000.00).
