Field Tool Technician – Southeast Region

This is a home / remote based role in the Southeast.
Travel
: 80% travel
The Field Tool Technician provides on-site service, maintenance, repair, and technical support for specialized mechanical pipe preparation and joining tools at customer locations across the Southeast region. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in the field. The position involves extensive travel (up to 80%) throughout states including FL, GA, AL, TN, SC, and NC.
Will also consider someone in the southcentral region of the US.
- Train customer personnel on proper tool operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols
- Independently coordinate and schedule customer visits based on customer needs and availability
- Maintain strong working relationships with supported customer accounts
- Provide on-site consulting services regarding tool operation and shop setup to maximize productivity
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on customer tools and equipment to minimize downtime
- Respond to customer service calls for tool malfunctions, providing expert diagnosis and repair solutions on-site
- Perform calibration, testing, and commissioning of newly installed tools and equipment at customer locations
- Conduct warranty evaluations and repairs of company tools with minimal disruption to customer operations
- Maintain customer tool inventories, service records, and prepare detailed service reports with recommendations
- Provide technical consultation on tool applications, best practices, and operational efficiency
- Follow all company safety requirements, procedures, and participate in safety reviews
- Associate or technical degree preferred
- 3+ years of field service or equipment maintenance experience required
- Mechanical aptitude with strong organizational skills
- Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, shop math, and precision instrument measurements
- Capable of performing equipment setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
- Experience with diagnostic software, equipment management systems, and computerized maintenance programs preferred
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%) across the Southeast region
