Overview
Job Summary
We are seeking a Fiber Splicer Technician to join our team. As a Fiber Splicer Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair fiber optic networks by splicing, terminating, and testing fiber cables to ensure high-speed connectivity. You will also troubleshoot systems, run diagnostic tests, order replacement components, and ensure every system you touch is working properly. The ideal candidate has experience with telecommunications equipment, excellent communication skills, and enjoys solving complex issues.

- Fiber Splicing & Termination:
Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) fiber cables using fusion splicing machines, including preparation, stripping, cleaning, and organizing fibers in splice closures. - Testing & Troubleshooting:
Use Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), power meters, and visual fault locators (VFL) to test for signal strength, continuity, and attenuation to ensure network performance. - Network Installation & Repair:
Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic systems, including aerial and underground cabling, as well as premise wiring. - Technical Documentation:
Maintain accurate, detailed records of splicing, maintenance, and test results, including closeout documentation. - Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and, when necessary, work at heights on ladders or in bucket trucks, or in confined spaces. Maintain a clean and safe working environment by always wearing proper PPE and following safety procedures.
- Experience:
1-3+ years of experience in fiber optic splicing, telecommunications, or a related technical field. - Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency with fiber splicing tools, fiber testing equipment, and understanding of network design blueprints. - Manual Dexterity:
Excellent hand-eye coordination for handling delicate fiber strands. - Must be comfortable working on your feet, in tight spaces, and in a variety of weather conditions.
