Manufacturing Automation Technician
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Okuma CNC machines, automation systems, and integrated manufacturing solutions.
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, control, software, and automation issues.
- Perform machine retrofits, upgrades, and system improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
- Support robotics, material handling systems, and other automated manufacturing technologies.
- Provide advanced on-site and remote technical support to customers and distributors.
- Serve as an escalation resource for complex issues beyond standard distributor capabilities.
- Identify root causes and implement corrective actions for recurring or critical equipment issues.
- Utilize precision diagnostic and measurement equipment to verify machine accuracy and performance.
- Develop and deliver technical training for Okuma personnel, distributors, and end users.
- Create and maintain service documentation, technical manuals, repair procedures, and knowledge base resources.
- Document service activities and communicate findings, recommendations, and progress through detailed reports.
- Support warranty reviews and provide technical recommendations when needed.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Participate in after-hours or rotational support as needed.
- Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- Five (5) to seven (7+) years of experience supporting CNC machine tools, automation systems, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Strong background working with CNC controls, servo systems, PLCs, and industrial automation.
- Experience with Okuma machine tools strongly preferred.
- Robotics, integrated manufacturing systems, or factory automation experience preferred.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, CNC, and automation systems.
- Strong understanding of machine tool theory, manufacturing processes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and CAD/CAM files.
- Proficiency with precision measuring and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO, OSHA, ANSI, and industrial safety standards.
- Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and service documentation tools.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to work safely in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and customer-site environments.
Approximately 50% travel, including domestic and occasional international travel, to support customer installations, service activities, and automation projects.
