This is a field-based position supporting projects throughout the Greater Charlotte Area and surrounding Southeast region. Regular travel to customer job sites is required.
Description
The Lead AV Technician is responsible for driving assigned projects through final completion, including testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, equipment returns, and punch list resolution. This position maintains ownership of assigned projects through closeout, ensuring all remaining work is completed in accordance with the project scope and Solutionz quality standards.
The Lead AV Technician works closely with Field Services, Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and field personnel to identify outstanding items, resolve technical issues, verify documentation, and ensure each project is fully completed before closeout.
Responsibilities- Ensure completion of the final phase of assigned projects, including all outstanding punch list items.
- Maintain ownership of assigned projects until all work is complete in accordance with the project scope.
- Communicate project status, outstanding items, and completion needs to the Director of Field Services,
- Director of Engineering, or Director of Operations, depending on office location.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and Lead Field Engineer as projects approach the final phase.
- Test the basic functionality of all installed equipment before project technicians are released from the project.
- Work with the Lead Field Engineer to verify project drawings are current and all redlines have been completed.
- Troubleshoot system issues and perform final commissioning as required.
- Manage RMA requests and the return of defective, unused, or replacement equipment associated with assigned projects.
- Verify that all remaining project requirements have been completed before the project is considered closed.
- Communicate identified deficiencies, technical concerns, or additional work requirements to the appropriate project stakeholders.

- Complete timecards daily.
- Keep work areas clean and free of clutter, including office space, company vehicles, and job sites where applicable.
- Keep all scheduled activities current in your Solutionz Microsoft Outlook calendar.
- Be respectful in the care and handling of all company-owned and customer-owned resources.
- 5+ years of experience installing, integrating, commissioning, and troubleshooting commercial audiovisual systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading installation teams and coordinating project completion activities.
- Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, control systems, DSP platforms, conferencing technologies, and network-based AV systems.
- Experience performing system commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities.
- Ability to read and interpret AV drawings, wiring diagrams, construction documents, and system schematics.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage project priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience mentoring and training technicians and other field personnel.
- CTS certification preferred; CTS-I preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general PC-based applications.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
