At Hoopaugh Grading Company (HGC), we're looking for a Lead Flatwork Concrete Finishers who takes pride in producing exceptional concrete surfaces from start to finish. What

You'll Do

You’ll play a critical role in producing high-quality concrete flatwork by delivering smooth, durable, and professional finishes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Able to read and decipher blueprints.
  • 5+ years of experience finishing flatwork.
  • Spread, level, and finish freshly placed concrete.
  • Operate straight edges, bull floats, hand floats, power screeds, and power trowels.
  • Produce smooth finishes while maintaining proper elevations and flatness.
  • Operate walk-behind trowel machines.
  • Assist with laser screed operations when applicable.
  • Ability to read, understand and check grades and elevations from grade stakes, as well as maintain proper alignment and dimensions of flatwork.
  • Install expansion joints and finish edges.
  • Repair surface imperfections and patch existing concrete when necessary.
  • Perform saw-cut layout and joint preparation.
  • Maintain proper curing practices and protect finished concrete.
  • Understand ADA percentages and tolerances.
  • Ability to install ADA ramps.
  • Work closely with teammates to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with foremen, superintendents and teammates.
  • Help mentor labor and less experienced finishers.
  • Maintain HGC's quality expectations while meeting production schedules.
  • Participate in HGC Academy training and continue developing your craft.

Qualifications include:
  • Experience using power trowels and finishing equipment.
  • Ability to understand concrete placement procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to recognize finishing conditions and adjust techniques accordingly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Saw-cut layout experience.
  • Ability to work overtime and Saturdays when project schedules require.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and Fit for Duty examination.

Able to stand/sit for extended periods of time, as well as stoop, kneel, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and crawl as required to perform essential duties.

Able to lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies

Able to maintain constant alertness and situational awareness while on the job site.

Able to perform job responsibilities outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.

Able to communicate audibly and visually while exposed to varying levels of noise, dust and substances commonly found on construction sites.

Able to use hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting and carrying construction materials.

Able to lift 20 lbs on a frequent basis.

Able to lift 40 lbs on an occasional basis.

Any other physical demand the assigned duties require.
