The Electrical Systems Specialist is the electrical specialist within the Technical Consulting team, and the role is split roughly evenly between two responsibilities. In house, the role is a first technical point of contact for customers on electrical topics and prepares and supports the electrical scope of Field Service jobs, so that technicians arrive with work that is already right. In the field, the role installs and commissions the larger electrical preparations it has built in house, so that the person who prepared the work is the person who sees it through on site.

groninger machines are designed and documented to European standards, so the ability to work fluently from European electrical schematics is essential.

• Serve as the electrical specialist within Technical Consulting: resolve customer and internal electrical questions directly, and engage Engineering for deeper issues.
• Participate in customer calls and meetings on electrical topics — troubleshooting, modifications, upgrades, obsolescence and compliance questions — and explain technical detail clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Prepare the electrical scope of Field Service jobs: schematics, drawings, parts, cable and component lists, and job instructions, so that Field Service Technicians arrive fully briefed and equipped.
• Read, interpret and mark up European electrical schematics (IEC/EN symbols, conventions and terminology) and translate them into practical instructions for US-based technicians and customers.
• Build and pre-assemble electrical preparations in house — panels, sub-assemblies, harnesses and retrofit kits — so that time on site is reduced to installation and commissioning.
• Provide a practical field sanity check of Electrical Engineering’s job preparation, closing the gap between design intent and on-site reality, and feed findings back into the design.
• Work with Electrical Engineering and Automation Engineering on modifications, retrofits and obsolescence replacements before they reach the customer.
• Install and commission on site the larger electrical preparations built in house, including panel installations, rewiring, retrofits and upgrades.
• Support Field Service Technicians on site with electrical troubleshooting during installations, service calls and start-ups.
• Work to customer site electrical safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, arc-flash and permit-to-work procedures.
• Verify installed electrical work against the schematics and record as-built deviations so that machine documentation stays accurate.
• Support customers at their sites through onsite assessments, execution support and onsite presentations.
• Capture recurring electrical themes and feed them back into Engineering, R&D and service documentation.
• Complete service reports, job summaries and expense reports accurately and on time.
• Use company systems (e.g., Remberg, E3) to keep coordination, ticketing and documentation consistent and traceable.
