Electrical Field Service Technician; Levels -III Switchgear & Critical Power Systems OT

Insight Global is hiring Electrical Field Service Technicians (Levels I-III) to join one of the nation's leading providers of custom electrical power distribution systems
, serving mission-critical industries including data centers, manufacturing, utilities, and energy.

Job Title: Electrical Field Service Technician I, II & III

Employment: Direct Placement to Insight Global’s Client

Location: Charlotte, NC (Home-Base)

Travel: 75% local, 50% Regional

Shift: Core Hours 6am-3pm, with opportunity to work significant OT

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking professionals with with experience in electrical commissioning, field service, critical power, power distribution, switch gear commissioning, NETA testing, generator services, or mission-critical infrastructure environments. This role requires hands-on experience troubleshooting, commissioning, testing, and maintaining electrical power distribution equipment.
NOTE:
This is not a structured cabling, rack-and-stack, fiber optic, networking, server deployment, or traditional data center technician position.

Required Experience:

• 1-4 years (Tech I), 5-7 years (Tech II), or 7+ years (Tech III) in electrical field service, commissioning, or power distribution environments
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) switch gear
• Experience working with electrical power systems up to 480V
• Knowledge of Switchgear, ATS, PDU, UPS, Generators, Transformers, and Breakers
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
• Hands-on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Willingness to travel extensively and work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed

Preferred:

• Military electrical or power-generation experience
• Data center commissioning or operations experience
• Experience supporting hyperscale facilities such as Microsoft, Google, Meta, Oracle, QTS, Digital Realty, NTT, Vantage, etc.
• Mission-critical power infrastructure experience

Compensation & OT Considerations:

• Technician I (1-4 years): $36-$42/hour
• Technician II (5-7years): $44-$52/hour
• Technician III (7+ years): $54-$62/hour
• Over 8 hours/day = 1.5x Pay
• Over 10 hours/day =
  Double Time
• Saturday = 1.5x Pay (After 4 hours = Double Time)
• Sunday =
  Double Time All Day
• Holidays =
  Double Time All Day
• Paid-Time Off + Holiday Pay

Travel &

Schedule:

• Day shift schedule with core hours of 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Up to 75% local travel within assigned territory
• Approximately 50% travel throughout the Eastern Region
• Standard rotation:
  Two weeks traveling, One week home
• Longest travel periods are typically no more than 12 consecutive days
