The Recovery Court and Hub Peer Support Specialist provides one-to-one peer mentoring and group peer support to individuals who experience mental health and/or substance use challenges. The Peer Support Specialist will provide highly individualized support to program recipients which may include offering guidance, Recovery Role Modeling, individual advocacy, systems advocacy, and other support services. This position will carry a full caseload of individuals assigned through Mecklenburg County Recovery Court and participate in all legal and clinical staffing's, and court sessions for Recovery Court program.

Promise Resource Network is a nonprofit survivor-led organization that disrupts illness-based approaches to mental health and substance use by understanding the impacts of trauma and supporting healing, wellness, and recovery.

• Ability to interface with peers, colleagues, service providers, family members, and community members in an empathetic, professional manner.
• Facilitating and/or co-facilitating small and large group presentations on mental health topics, including sharing personal journey of recovery.
• Ability to establish a rapport with people of various cultural and/or economic backgrounds.
• Coordinate and/or provide Peer Service activities including, but not limited to establishing individualized recovery plans, providing support in the community as well as at recovery education programs, facilitating recovery classes as scheduled, and outreach to potential peers and community.
• Involvement in a variety of projects as assigned but not limited to marketing efforts, curriculum development, outreach to potential peer staff and peer service recipients, and additional program development activities as assigned.
• Attending local and statewide training and additional training as required.
• Actively participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, and peer support for peer supporters, and team/group activities.
• Possess understanding, belief, and commitment to the recovery process.
• Demonstrate belief in the recovery potential of all people with MH/SA challenges and commitment to the philosophy of peer support.
• Ability to represent the agency with a high level of professionalism within the community and workplace.
• Conduct recovery hub classes, and community-based classes, and ensure hub coverage throughout the week.
• Support individuals in the Hub daily as needed.

• Complete all peer paperwork in a timely manner and keep peer files organized and up to date.
• Identify the needs of courts and coordinate with PRN to provide the individual with recovery needs.
• Review court-specific steps with individual support and focus on the individual personal goals.
• Report feedback from the Recovery Court to the Team Lead and Program Manager.
• Recovery Court/Recovery Hub Peer Support Specialist will be available at the courthouse for court dates, clinical and legal staffing.
• Confer with the Recovery Court staff regarding referrals for appropriate services.
• Assist the Program Manager in the ongoing development and implementation of a strategic plan and policies for program development.
• Responsible for reaching out to interested individuals who have expressed an interest or have been referred to PRN through Recovery Court to begin establishing a relationship and exploring what PRN can offer to support their recovery journey.
• Coordinate with the Bridges case manager to schedule meetings with new peers in the community
• All other duties as assigned by the Team Lead, Program Manager and/or Executive leadership.

• Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist or ability to complete certification within 90 days.
• Lived experience of being a parent with Department of Social Services (DSS) and/or Youth and Family Services (YFS) involvement resulting in removal of children, successful reunification, termination of parental rights, guardianship, or adoption of children.
