Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
Position Overview We’re looking for a freelance, design-minded engineer to help us improve conversion across our marketing site and customer funnel — without compromising our brand or visual quality. Craftwork has a high bar for design. We believe conversion comes from clarity, trust, and craft, not dark patterns or gimmicks. This role is for someone who can improve performance and conversion while making the product feel better, simpler, and more confident.
This is a focused consulting engagement with clear goals, minimal process, and direct collaboration with our founders and product team.
- Remote (North America) / Charlotte, NC
- Part-time: ~10–20 hours/week
- Contract / freelance (flexible schedule)
- Initial engagement: 4–8 weeks, with potential to extend
- Success defined by measurable conversion lift and qualitative UX improvement
- Audit key pages and flows for UX and conversion friction
- Identify high-leverage improvements that align with Craftwork’s brand
- Design and implement polished UI changes directly in code
- Improve clarity, hierarchy, trust signals, and perceived quality
- Ship quickly, measure impact, and iterate
- Improve page performance, responsiveness and effectiveness without sacrificing design
- Collaborate directly with founders and product – fast decisions, no bureaucracy
- Next.js / Tailwind CSS / Type Script
- Figma
- Analytics and Event Tracking (GA, Post Hog, etc.)
- Strong front-end / design engineer with good taste
- Have experience improving conversion or growth metrics
- Care deeply about visual quality and UX clarity
- Can go from insight → solution → shipped improvement quickly
- SEO expertise and Local Services best practices
- We use AI tools like Claude Code, but if that’s the only way you can get things done, we’re probably not a good match
- CRO or growth engineering background
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks
- Startup or high-growth product experience
- Bonus for experience growing service businesses
- Clear scope and measurable outcomes
- High trust, high ownership
- Visible, customer-facing impact
- Opportunity to expand scope if it’s a strong fit and there’s mutual interest
If this sounds like a fit, send:
- A short intro
- Examples of relevant work (live sites are preferred)
- Any experience balancing design quality with conversion goals
