Principal Software Engineer

Overview

Serve as top‑level technical authority on leading edge, complex, state‑of‑the‑art technologies and/or techniques. This senior leader collaborates, innovates, and serves as a role model, champion, and subject‑matter expert within the organization. The role supports the engineering team for CRC Specialty’s brokerage business, focusing on design and development of cloud‑based Microsoft stack applications (Microsoft Azure, OpenAI) that enhance web applications REDY and Quick Quotes.

The position involves both hands‑on development and technical leadership for onshore and offshore developers.

Location:

Hybrid in Charlotte, Dallas or Atlanta.

Work Shift:

1st Shift (United States of America). Language Fluency:
English (Required).

• Act as top‑level subject‑matter expert on assigned technology stack.
• Lead existing and emerging technology and development processes, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
• Develop inventive, complex, critical solutions requiring extensive knowledge of the assigned technology.
• Identify and develop revolutionary business opportunities with significant financial impact.
• Build strong partnerships with all levels of management to improve the application portfolio using assigned technologies across Technology teams.
• Identify and develop sound application architecture patterns, frameworks, and standards for the assigned technology to drive consistency.
• Identify and drive application architecture and business capability consolidation opportunities.
• Meet with clients to understand needs and offer consulting services to internal clients and DTS departments.
• Operate as an Agile champion: deliver high‑quality software, automate tasks, apply continuous engineering practices, refine user stories, develop unit testing, support integration and functional testing, provide warranty support, and transfer knowledge to production support.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems‑related field or equivalent education and training.
• Minimum of five+ years of experience in leading edge, complex, state‑of‑the‑art technologies and/or techniques with additional experience in software development; experience with C#.NET, OpenAI, Cloud (Azure, AWS), and Python 3.
• Recognized in the industry for expertise; experience in a technology development company is acceptable.
• Strong business and financial acumen and effective communication skills.
• Ability to establish strong relationships within the technical community.
• Visionary capabilities regarding future technological solutions and operational scenarios, including the creation of new business models and technologies.
• Ability to create, manage, and drive change.
• Ability to unify activities within the technology community and coordinate with other businesses and engineering organizations as needed.

• Fifteen years of industry‑recognized experience and leadership.
• Experience working with IT leadership at all levels.
• Experience managing onshore and offshore engineering teams.
• Affinity for agile methodologies and understanding of process and documentation importance.
• Proficiency in designing cloud‑based solutions.
• Willingness to wear multiple hats and commitment to continuous learning.
• Commercial P&C insurance experience preferred; brokerage experience is a strong plus.
• Strong Azure experience highly preferred.
• Open AI experience and Python coding experience are strong plus.
