Job Description We are seeking an Application Programmer III to join our team supporting modernization initiatives within the RRA. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in testing Java-based backend systems, distributed and event-driven architectures, REST APIs, and CI/CD-driven microservices and a proven ability to design and execute automation strategies that assure reliability, correctness, and production readiness. Responsibilities:
Provide support and development support for RRA modernization, driving test coverage, automation, and validation of functional and non-functional requirements. Partner with trading, product, development, and Dev Ops leadership to assess delivery risk and influence design decisions using shift-left and shift-right testing practices. Act as a key stakeholder for production readiness to ensure operational resilience, stability, and compliance for front-to-back trading workflows.

Define and maintain test plans, automation strategies, and quality gates across the SDLC in an agile environment. Required Skills &

Qualifications:

5+ years validating and assuring quality of production systems built with Java-based backends, focused on reliability, correctness, and user experience. Strong understanding of object-oriented design, microservices, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments. Proven experience testing distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and real-time or near-real-time data pipelines, including failure scenarios and performance under load. Demonstrated ability to design and execute test automation and quality gates with strong analytical skills and collaboration with developers, product, and Dev Ops teams.

Preferred

Skills:

Experience with testing strategies for production resilience and observability in trading or financial services environments. Familiarity with peer coding and technical interview settings that emphasize independent problem solving without external tools. Work Arrangement & Interview Process:
Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in Jersey City, NJ.
