Software Engineer (Python/React)
Location:
Charlotte, NC, USA. Hybrid work model. 6+ years experience building client‑facing applications in asset and wealth management with Python FastAPI, LLM, React.js, Python3, and SQL.

Responsibilities- Design and implement responsive front‑end features using Python FastAPI, LLM, and React.js that provide intuitive and accessible user experiences for asset and wealth management clients, ensuring consistency with enterprise design guidelines.
- Develop robust backend services using Python3 that support complex financial calculations, data transformations, and workflow orchestration for portfolio and account management.
- Create efficient SQL queries and data models to optimize performance and accuracy for large volumes of transactional and reference data within asset and wealth management platforms.
- Integrate front‑end components with backend APIs and databases to deliver seamless end‑to‑end user journeys for advisors, portfolio managers, and operations teams.
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, and data handling practices that protect sensitive financial information and comply with internal risk controls and regulatory expectations.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and domain experts in asset and wealth management to translate functional requirements into clear technical designs and implementation plans.
- Conduct detailed code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to maintain high coding standards and ensure maintainability, testability, and reusability across modules.
- Develop automated unit tests, integration tests, and component tests using appropriate frameworks to improve code reliability and reduce regression risks in a hybrid delivery environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues by performing root cause analysis and implementing sustainable fixes that improve system resilience and client satisfaction.
- Optimize application performance by profiling critical paths, refactoring inefficient logic, and fine‑tuning database interactions to meet stringent latency and throughput requirements.
- Document technical designs, data flows, and deployment steps in a clear and structured manner to support knowledge sharing, onboarding, and operational readiness for distributed hybrid teams.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and Dev Ops teams to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that streamline deployments and improve delivery predictability.
- Engage in regular stakeholder discussions to refine backlog priorities, estimate effort, and ensure timely delivery of features that enhance client outcomes and support the company’s purpose of enabling inclusive and responsible wealth creation.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or a related engineering discipline with a strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
- Demonstrate extensive hands‑on experience spanning at least seven years in building production‑grade applications using React.js with a focus on modular, reusable, and testable components.
- Exhibit strong proficiency in Python3 and Python, including experience with web frameworks, scripting, and data processing for financial or data‑intensive applications.
- Show advanced skills in writing optimized SQL queries, designing relational schemas, and working with complex joins, indexes, and performance tuning in enterprise databases.
- Bring proven experience in asset and wealth management domains, understanding of portfolios, accounts, orders, valuations, reporting, and regulatory considerations.
- Display familiarity with hybrid work practices, including effective communication, collaboration, and delivery across distributed teams while maintaining productivity and accountability.
- Illustrate practical experience with version control systems, testing frameworks, and modern development practices that support reliable and maintainable software delivery.
The annual salary for this position is between $68,422 and $114,000, depending on experience and other qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
