Senior Software Engineer

One of the country’s largest financial services organizations is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a Backend/AI Focus to join its Data & AI Engineering team in Charlotte, NC
. In this role, you’ll help design and deliver scalable, real-time services that power modern AI-driven applications. You’ll work hands‑on with cutting‑edge generative AI technologies (including LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic frameworks) while leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers. • Lead moderately complex engineering initiatives within backend and AI‑focused environments
• Architect, build, and maintain scalable,
  real‑time data services supporting AI models
• Design and implement APIs that integrate predictive and generative AI capabilities
• Develop, test, debug, and document high‑quality production code
• Evaluate and solve complex technical challenges across systems and architectures
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers
• Act as an escalation point for technical issues and unblock delivery teams
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineers, product teams, and leadership
• Contribute to strategic planning, modernization, and cloud migration efforts
• Drive adoption of AI frameworks (e.g., Lang Chain, agentic development kits)
• Ensure engineering excellence through peer reviews, CI/CD best practices, and secure design principles

• EDUCATION: PhD in Computer Science or related field is preferred
• 4+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent practical experience)
• Proven experience leading projects or engineering teams
• Strong backend development experience, preferably with Golang or Python
• Experience building scalable, real‑time data services
• Hands‑on experience with APIs supporting AI/ML systems and predictive models
• Exposure to generative AI technologies including LLMs, RAG, or agent‑based workflows
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes
• Strong experience working in Linux environments
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based workflows
• Experience with relational databases
• Nice‑to‑have: familiarity with Rust or C++
